What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant has several components that work together to simulate a natural tooth. The main part of the implant is a titanium post that is surgically inserted into your jawbone, just like the root of a tooth. On top of the implant, there is an abutment that connects the implant to a dental crown, a prosthetic tooth. Together, all of these components provide maximum stability, strength, and function. What are All-on-4® Full Arch Dental Implants?
It is not always practical to replace every single missing tooth with a dental implant, especially if you are missing most or all of your teeth on the upper or lower arch. A full mouth of implants typically requires 8-10 per jaw, which can take several months to complete and really drives up the overall cost of treatment. Alternatively, All-on-4 full arch dental implants are not nearly as involved and far less expensive.
Instead of using 8 to 10 dental implants in one arch, All-on-4 uses four strategically placed implants to support a set of prosthetic teeth. The result is still as natural looking and stable as a mouth full of dental implants, but the procedure takes less time start to finish and is far less costly.
